The Arsenal Therapy Podcast – Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle United (008)

Summary

Welcome to The Arsenal Therapy Podcast, a dedicated show about a club I love, Arsenal Football Club.

So Arsenal are through to the 4th round of the FA Cup after beating Newcastle United 2-0 in extra time, the performance is what I choose to focus on. Following a winless run in 6 games, Newcastle come into this game with low confidence giving Arsenal the opportunity to continue on from their brilliant performance at West Bromwich Albion. However, the game starts slow and Arsenal fail to get out of second gear until Emile Smith-Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka are introduced in the second half. Why has Arteta been persistent in playing Willian in the first team? Why is Aubameyang failing to perform well as a Centre Forward? I attempt to answer these questions in this episode.

The Arsenal Therapy Podcast – West Bromwich Albion 0-4 Arsenal (007)

Summary

A standout performance from Arsenal as they brush aside a very poor West Bromwich Albion, beating them 4-0 at the Hawthorn. Arsenal were the more dominant side from the very first minute and showed their dominance by having 10 shots after just 25 minutes. Kieran Tierney scored a world class individual goal as the team helped Saka to secure a moment of magic in the memory bank, a goal all Arsenal fans will watch back in years to come. This was a display of dominance from Mikel Arteta’s side who were ruthless until the last minute of the game.

The Arsenal Therapy Podcast – Brighton 0-1 Arsenal (006)

Summary

Another 3 points in the bag for Arsenal, but we made it difficult for ourselves. Following the release of the starting XI, we all thought this was going to be a similar performing Arsenal to the one that beat Chelsea. However, we would soon find out that this was going to be a far trickier affair than the one on Boxing Day. We lacked energy, enthusiasm and played a very cautious game with a similar Brighton side who lacked any cutting edge to take their opportunities in the first half. Luckily, Mikel made the right choices to help us get those 3 big points. I will try to break down why Arsenal lacked the ambition they showed against Chelsea and who was exposed in this dull affair.

The Arsenal Therapy Podcast – Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea (005)

Summary

Welcome to The Arsenal Therapy Podcast, a dedicated show about a club I love, Arsenal Football Club.

I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but Arsenal Football Club won a game of football and in some fashion. They demolished a poor Chelsea side who didn’t look up for it at all. Arsenal played a high pressing, intense style of football that paid off with the likes of Martinelli, Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe leading the line that was nonstop energy from the start. Arsenal were the strongest team in the first half and thanks to a early second half bit of magic from Saka went 3-0 up where the game had been sealed. This was a significant win for many reasons, the most important being we made a strong case for why Arteta should trust the youngsters coming through the ranks more often.

The Arsenal Therapy Podcast – Arsenal 1-4 Manchester City (004)

Summary

Another loss to add to our growing number of losses. It almost seems to normal to lose football matches on a regular basis and what makes it worse is becoming numb to it. However, this Quarter Final tie against Manchester City was fascinating to analyse with a controversial starting line-up followed by goalkeeping howlers. In this podcast I break down the 90 minutes of football where we were destined to lose against a strong Manchester City side. However, there were some positives to take away from this game and a light at the end of the tunnel (Martinelli), if he’s not injured for the remainder of the season.

The Arsenal Therapy Podcast – Everton 2-1 Arsenal (003)

Summary

Welcome to The Arsenal Therapy Podcast, a dedicated show about a club I love, Arsenal Football Club.

This is our 8th loss of the season with Everton giving us a reality check. The performance was very reminiscent of the North London Derby, where they let us dominate the game with little to no end product. There were a number of questionable decisions made by the manager who ultimately paid the price at the end of the match. This was a very difficult podcast to record with the majority of it being very unstructured.
